    DOWNLOADABLE AUTHOR YEARBOOKS AND EXCERPTS

DOWNLOADABLE AUTHOR YEARBOOKS AND EXCERPTS

Are Class Acts authors coming to your school or library?
Here’s what you’ll need to do:

  1. Download the Class Acts author yearbook pages and excerpts for your
    visiting authors.

  2. Divide students into two groups, assigning one Class Acts author to
    each group.

  3. Prepare by having students read the book excerpt for their Class Acts author, practice their Class Acts cheer, review the discussion questions as a group, and come up with questions they’d like to ask the authors.

  4. Offer students the opportunity to order copies of the Class Acts authors’ books by partnering with a local bookstore or by ordering books directly from HarperCollins by calling 1-800-C-HARPER.

  5. Hold your Class Acts event in an auditorium, cafeteria, or gymnasium, seating each group of students together so that they can support and cheer for their author as a team.

  6. Participate in the Class Acts Challenge, as students cheer, answer trivia, and ask questions of the authors to determine which Class Acts author is
    “Best in Class!”

You can host a Class Acts event without Class Acts authors, too! Here’s what you’ll need to do:

  1. Download the Class Acts author yearbook pages and book excerpts for two authors.

  2. Offer students the opportunity to order copies of the Class Acts authors’ books by partnering with a local bookstore or by ordering books directly from HarperCollins by calling 1-800-C-HARPER.

  3. Divide your students into two groups, assigning one Class Acts author to each group.

  4. Prepare by having students read the book excerpt for their Class Acts author, practice their Class Acts cheer, and review the discussion questions individually.

  5. Hold your Class Acts event in an auditorium, cafeteria, or gymnasium, seating each group of students together so that they can support and cheer for their author as a team.

  6. With a teacher, librarian, or parent volunteer leading each group, hold a Class Acts Challenge, as students cheer, answer trivia, and answer discussion questions to determine which Class Acts author is “Best in Class!”

Having a Skype visit with a Class Acts author? Here’s what you’ll need to do:

  1. Download the Class Acts author yearbook page and book excerpt for your visiting author.

  2. Test your equipment, check your Internet connection, and add the visiting author to your Skype contact list in advance of the Skype visit.

  3. Hold your Class Acts event in a classroom or library, where all students may see the computer screen and be seen by the webcam.

  4. Prepare by having students read the excerpt for their Class Acts author, practice their Class Acts cheer, review the discussion questions as a group, and come up with questions they’d like to ask the author.

  5. Be ready for stage fright! Have a list of student questions on hand, just in case they become shy during the author Skype visit.

  6. Offer students the opportunity to order copies of the Class Acts authors’ books by partnering with a local bookstore or by ordering books directly from HarperCollins by calling 1-800-C-HARPER.

  7. Having some trouble? Visit the Skype Troubleshooting page for helpful hints.
